Youth work meets social movements

This term I'm auditing a module called Learning from Social Movements. It's absolutely amazing and I'm loving every minute of it - the readings, the workshop-style "lectures", the discussions. The assessment is also pretty cool, but as an auditing student, I don't get to do it.

Allow me to say that again - workshop-style "lectures". Meaning that we get to talk to each other and do fun student-led activities.

Today we talked about assemblies and assembling with care. No one volunteered to prepare anything for a student facilitated bit, but I had a little * spontaneous * idea (yes, I know, it's surprising even for me). I remembered a game/energiser/activity that involved people assembling into groups. So, I facilitated that - assembling in groups of three, assembling based on clothing, assembling based on hair colour, and finally assembling based on the degrees we're studying. It was super fun and we got some nice conversations out of it. I'm very glad I did this today!
