Yesterday I went to Yoga and…
…it was a really good experience!
When I signed up (on the 30th of December) I knew practically nothing about Yoga. I’ve been trying to work out at home to keep my body in some kind of shape, but while I can stick to a routine during the summer, as soon as the days get short and it gets cold, I lose all motivation. I’m also keen on trying to form a relationship with my own body so I don’t dehydrate myself for days on end and end up with kidney infections. So, I thought that Yoga might be something interesting for me, but I don’t think I had any specific expectations.
A few ideas after yesterday’s session:
- > I never stood up mindfully and I never felt my feet touch the ground mindfully. It was a very new experience and it felt good.
- > My balance is very bad, but I’ll get better in time.
- > Probably the most complicated thing was breathing. On the one hand, it’s a physical problem - my nose isn’t working properly (my septum is bent). But, that’s just an excuse. I know that I often forget to breathe as I go about my day. So, * mindfully * feeling the air enter/exit my lungs and allowing it to do that * SLOWLY * was challenging. I kept trying to rush myself into breathing faster. Another thing that I will learn in time.
I will go again next week. And the week after. And so on. I enjoy this.
