Winner books!

Quick recap: blurbs & justification assignment at uni → the best ones were sent to W.W. Norton → they pick the top 3 → I won first prize and a £50 book voucher

The books arrived today! Of course, I took advantage of this opportunity and got books that cost more than I would usually spend - THE NORTON ANTHOLOGY OF SHORT FICTION and ‘The Odyssey’ translated by Emily Wilson.

Why these two, you may ask?

Well, short fiction because I love reading it and writing it.

This edition of ‘The Odyssey’ because Wilson was the first woman to translate it into English. Robert Fagles’s translation was one of the first books I’ve studied at uni, along with Dickens’s ‘Great Expectations’. We were comparing the different translations when I saw a little fragment of Wilson’s version and I wanted to get this book from that very moment. I have it now. I could say that I’ve come full circle.
