When the Writer needs an Architect

I think I’m quite good at writing. I can easily come up with stuff. What I am missing is the ability to create any visual representation of the things in my head. That’s why I need people who can read my mind.

I have zero spatial awareness and 4-year-olds can probably draw better than me. This might be an understatement. After a bit of writing, I realised that my characters’ houses may not make sense. Also, relying on the memory of what I imagined once upon a time before falling asleep doesn’t sound ideal. So, today I sat down with J and I told her what the houses look like. In case you didn’t know, she also studied architecture. And she has proper spatial awareness.

The next step would be to build the houses in the SIMS or something and see if the furniture fits too. But that’s for another afternoon of extra-writing activities.
