Time to just read

Today I’m not reading while waiting for something or while going somewhere. I’m not reading because I have an hour or so and need a little escape. I’m not reading because I have to. Today I’m just reading. Sank into my beanbag and read. Had some tea. Drank water. Ate a bit. I also talked to my parents. But overall, I just read.

I finished the Romanian book and I needed something simple. Something that I don’t need to think about too much. Something YA. So I decided to go for some John Green. First time reading him. ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. I’m three chapters in and it’s exactly the kind of book I was looking for. Yes, the subject matter is heavy, but the writing is easy to keep up with.

Oh but, you may ask, Bea, you’re a book person, how come you’ve never read John Green until now? Well… Let me tell you… When I was in my early adolescence, John Green was THE AUTHOR to read. But I was too cool to read what everyone else was reading. I always loved to find stuff that was off the radar. I read stuff like ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ before it was adapted - that’s how cool I was!!!! But as with Green Day, Limp Bizkit, flowers, or avocados, there comes one day when I realise that I’ve been missing out. John and Hank (his brother) have been popping up on my TikTok and Instagram, so I decided it was time to try some John Green.

Today’s lesson - just because it’s popular, it doesn’t mean it’s bad!
