‘The Year of Magical Thinking’ by Joan Didion
I started this book on Monday and I’m already close to the end. Every time I open it, I can’t stop reading. I would’ve finished it by now but I had a couple of busy days.
Joan writes about a year in her life when her daughter was sick and her husband died. It’s about grief, despair, anger - everything. And it’s so beautifully written. This book is so intimate that I feel strange sharing anything about it. Joan opens up with so much honesty. It’s a piece of her life and her soul.
I’m so fascinated by the way she writes and at the same time I’m scared - one day I’ll pick this book up again to read it from a different perspective…
