The book I didn’t write about (yet)

I write a short post about every book I read and sometimes I also write a long article. On the 11th of September, at 3.00 am, we left for the airport. Because I know I function better with no sleep than with little sleep, I decided to stay up all night.

At noon I finished Joan Didion's ‘The Year of Magical Thinking’ and since I cannot live without having a book ‘in progress’ and I’ve already packed the next one on my uni reading list, I decided to go to a book that has been waiting for quite a while - Petronela Rotar’s ‘O să mă știi de undeva’ (You’ll know me from somewhere). By midnight I finished the book and I spent the rest of my night cleaning and getting ready to go.

I picked the book especially because Joan’s writing and the theme of grief reminded me of Petronela. And I think she would love this book as well (if she hasn’t read it already). I’m planning to write a long article about both after I learn more about Joan at uni. They’re both so intimate and raw. I just love them.
