Still the same book

A few years ago I would’ve given up by now. The pacing and the amount of (useless) description are quite tedious. However, the story is interesting. The characters are also exciting. I want to know what happens next, so I have to filter the information.

So far, I can probably say that ‘The Plumed Serpent’ won’t end up in my top favourites, but I can say that D.H. Lawrence is a writer of his time. He perfectly reflects the world around him. Yes, some of his bits are racist and sexist, but this is 1926, not 2022. Like it or not, those were the days.

I liked ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ when I read it about four years ago, but I’m wondering how much I understood it back then. It might be time for a re-read.
