Slowly reconnecting with reality

This holiday season really threw me off my routine and completely messed up my productivity. I don’t really know why, but it might be because this was the first proper holiday season with guests, gifts, cooking, staying up late, and all that since… 2019. I will be honest with you and say that my energy levels are way too low compared to my usual self.

It’s okay. This is not the first time I have felt this way. One of the perks of being a (young) adult is knowing that this too shall pass. So, I’m taking things slowly. Yesterday I went shopping. Today I put together a little to-do list for tomorrow and I opened the Word Doc with ARKON 1, the novel that I’m working on. Since I opened the doc, I thought I * might as well * write a short chapter. I was pleasantly surprised to realise that I was still well connected to my characters and the plot.

After that, I stopped and picked up ‘IT’. I know I’ll need a bit of energy later to cook something and (might as well) wash some dishes. I also did a bit of low-energy youth worker work. You know what? I’ve done a lot today. Good job, Bea!

P.S. My favourite productivity tip is the * might as well * technique. If I made coffee, I might as well clean the coffee machine. If I’m cooking, I might as well wash some dishes. Another way to look at it is that if a task takes less than 2 or 5 minutes to complete, don’t postpone it, you * might as well * just do it now.
