Shoes in the online classroom

I feel like this is another episode of the spontaneous life of a youth worker. During the weekend, my former Maths teacher (who’s now the principal of a school in Baia Mare) asked me if I could talk to a few kids & young people from the school about myself and my experience. I accepted happily, of course.

But, let me tell you, what happened today was a lot more than just a talk. Two girls told me that they’d love to study Creative Writing which made me so happy and other students seemed really intrigued by my and the other two guests’ experience.

This experience filled me with hope and it made me genuinely happy. Today’s meeting was part of a larger project in which the school is involved and the aim is to support these young students in their personal development. It’s non-formality brought into the formal system and it’s there for those who need it most - students who are too young to fully commit to an NGO as volunteers and too young to participate in most of their projects.

And this experience will turn into an article later today. I’ve got lots to do, but this can’t remain unwritten.
