Research under pressure
It’s exam time! Not a traditional exam per se - we have 2 weeks to write 2 x 2000-word essays - but it’s still somewhat pressuring. Especially because I used to put my whole life on hold when I had exams like this before. That option is no longer available for me, not really. However, if the years of juggling volunteering and high school taught me something, it’s time management and prioritisation. There’s a time when you can procrastinate, but this ain’t it.
So today I started researching stuff for my first essay.
Q3. Is the concept of culture relevant to the practice of youth and community work OR community development OR Community arts?
Of course, it is. It’s a mutual relationship where culture (through projects) creates opportunities for youth and community work, but youth and community work elements are also crucial to the success of cultural projects. And because I just returned from an experience that brought together European Capitals of Culture and Youth in Plovdiv, this is going to be my vignette.
The only (slightly) inconvenient part about doing research under pressure is that I have to be very focused on my topic and I can’t allow myself to get lost in it. I read a few super relevant texts and they will be my reference points. I cannot, should not and I am not expected to do more.
