Nope, this book is not distracting me from work. Nope.

Now that I made that clear, this book is totally distracting me from work. I’ve been planning to read Orwell’s ‘1984’ for ages. I heard so much about this book. When I finally opened it, I felt like a child on Christmas.

I can’t stop reading. And when I stop, the book’s the only thing I can think about. I love dystopian stuff in general, but this is something else. I am fascinated by how slow and careful the world-building is. You get to know everything about the whole political and cultural context before the action starts. A few years ago I would’ve hated this, but now I know how important this is and I’m reading every world with undivided attention. So this was the right time to read this after I learned to enjoy every bit of it. Plus, I’ve been doing a lot of research around WW2 and socialism/communism/fascism/etc with Sylvia Plath and ‘Fear and Misery of the Third Reich’ so I get all the references (and, trust me, there are plenty).

I wrote down my thoughts, used my Oldspeak very well, so I shall return to my little dystopian world where this would all be a crime.
