New and old people

Being the cat at the Youth Centre, I get to know everything and everyone! I am the first to greet all the new people who come through the door. I am too cute and of course, they can’t resist me. Not even those who say they don’t like cats! But it’s also nice to see some of the familiar faces, especially the people that were here on my very first day.

I still remember my first day… Everyone was so excited to meet me and play with me, but I was just a little kitty cat so after a while I got tired. Then I noticed Bea - the only one who wasn’t paying attention to me. She was reading. So, when I felt sleepy, I climbed next to her and fell asleep. I’m pretty sure her heart melted a bit and that’s how we became friends.

You see, dear readers, youth work happens in many ways. I understand that after opening up to cats, Bea learned to keep her mind open and leave prejudice behind. It’s the small things that have the biggest impact.
