Let’s talk about routines
When I say routine, I think about some small repetitive bits that play a key role in my life. I don’t like repetition on a large scale - I like doing different things on different days and being able to focus on whatever matters most without being worried that I damage something else. However, I like little rituals - my 10 minutes of quiet time, checking in with my feelings, writing these daily posts, my weekly exercise, and… my cup of something. I’m both a tea and coffee person, but lately, I noticed that I’ve been drinking coffee every day. And if I don’t, I feel super low on energy.
I successfully built a coffee routine. It took time and I wasn’t paying attention to it. The good thing is, that in a similar way, I can build a proper routine around my quiet time and exercise. As for my coffee, I’m trying to tweak my habit. It was never about coffee anyway, it’s about having something interesting to sip on while I’m working or reading or chatting with someone. I used to have a cup of cocoa or tea every day as a child, so it’s built into me. Of course, I won’t stop drinking coffee, I enjoy it too much, but I don’t want my routine and especially ENERGY to depend on it. It’s not my first experience with caffeine addiction (let’s call it what it is), so I know I’ll be able to break the habit.
Anyway… Thought I’d share this.
