Leisure essay writing

Will people think I’m mad for enjoying essay writing? Probably. Do I care? Not really. I like putting my thoughts on paper and tying them up coherently with quotes and references. This is why I decided to start my Ro-Lit project.

After taking a break from anything that required attention for a couple of days, I had to get back to doing something. So I finally started working on my first Ro-Lit essay. I have to tell you that I’m actually struggling a bit - words come to me in English most of the time and I have to look at their translation in Romanian and pick whatever seems more suitable. I basically have to think this essay in English and translate it to Romanian. This doesn’t happen if I feel like writing an article or a short story in Romanian.

But so far, so good. I aim to write 1000 - 1500 words per essay, and I’m already at 400. I don’t think I’ll write more today, but I think I’m doing well. I should start reading the next text - a novella called ‘The Lucky Mill’ (spoiler: it’s not very lucky).
