Youth work is not something that can be easily put into an academic lecture. It just doesn't fit. So I was very curious how today's lecture on youth work will be.
It was awesome! We approached learning from a very practice-based perspective and we talked about the history of youth work (which I found fascinating!!!). After the more theoretical bit, we started discussing some case studies.
Now, realistically, you can't summarise youth work into 2 hours. You can't summarise it in a week. But it feels so good to have a starting point. I can now dive into more research and reading. Also, I feel like I have a much better understanding of where the values that so many of us share actually come from. I love being a youth worker.
