International online morning

After a good night’s sleep, recovering after a long anxious day, I started my Friday with an awesome meeting, discussing the ups and downs of youth work in Sweden, Romania, and the UK.

Diana met someone from a Swedish organisation called KEKS, that advocates for youth participation and quality youth work. Some of my favourite words. Today she got us all together for an online chat. In only one hour, we got to talk about the challenges that we are facing as youth workers in three very different countries, with three very different approaches to youth work.

The most important thing I got on a personal and professional level from this conversation was validation. What we are doing as DEIS (RO and UK) and also KEKS is right. When youth work goes super professional, youth participation goes down and someone needs to push from the other direction. We are here to do this.
