I’m reading a beautiful book

My mind is hardly in an ideal space for reading, but I push myself to do it. It’s medicine for me. This book is so beautiful, so carefully written. It’s like a hug. It’s cosy. I’m listening to slow songs and it’s raining outside.

I took a break from reading to help some more with the list of people volunteering at the Ukrainian border (that’s why my laptop is in the pic too). It makes me so happy that I can play a role, albeit small. And with a book by my side, I can recharge my batteries a bit.

Probably my favourite thing about ‘Open Water’ is that it’s written in the second person. At least for a while, as I’m reading, I’m not myself, I’m someone else. A very welcome distraction nowadays. However, I still have to focus on it from a literary perspective. I’m reading it for my dissertation, so I can’t just let myself go. But I want to come back to it and just read it. On a rainy day. While listening to slow music.
