I’m not taking any chances

While some people (too many, if you ask me) aren't ‘taking any chances’ with vaccines, I'm not taking any chances with viruses. Even if my chance of contracting HPV is low, they’re never zero. I decided to have the Gardasil 9 - HPV vaccine.

When the vaccination campaign started in Romania around 2014 (I think) there was a lot of misinformation around the long-term effects of the vaccine. None of which was true, but it was enough to scare Mami not to let me have the vaccine then. No one bothered to clear all the wrong info away, it got quiet, and so we all forgot about the HPV vaccine.

I remembered this when my favourite Romanian author wrote that she and her daughters are getting the HPV vaccine because they too didn’t have it at that time. So, here I am, following an amazing example of responsibility, and (hopefully) also encouraging others through my example. I had my first dose today. Better safe than sorry.
