Foreword ~ Done

Why ~? Because I made a statement and I’m not sure I have the evidence for it. I’m looking into it, and if I really can’t explain it I’ll either delete it or add a footnote explaining the situation. The best thing about doing your last undergrad project is that you’re technically a little expert by now. People can just take your word for it, granted a good explanation, of course.

Yes, I’m doing a foreword for my 3000-word essay aka Lit & Pub final project. A few hundred words to explain why am I doing this essay, why have I chosen the authors that I have, and contextualise my little piece of work in the wider discussion on detective fiction as transnational. Now, next time I sit down to write I can just get into the hardcore content.

I’m so happy to be writing about a Romanian author and I’m so grateful to have professors open to working with me and not against me. Because the books are not available in translation, they could’ve just said ‘no’. Instead, they said ‘interesting!’ and advised me to add a plot summary as an appendix. Does this mean a little bit more work for me? It does. And the lack of proper Romanian literary theory isn’t helping me either. But this girl loves a challenge.
