Finding coffee shops in new cities
Today is ‘arrival day’ so not much is happening (except an opening event much later). Because I arrived a day early and had some work to do, I decided to go out in Plovdiv on a quest to find a cute indie coffee shop. I’m in the Kapana Creative District, so how hard can it be?
A lot harder than I thought, for a variety of reasons such as
- my navigation skills are nil so I don’t really feel confident exploring on my own
- I can’t read Bulgarian and although Google Lens does a decent job at translating stuff, I still can’t tell between a coffee shop and a pub
- I got too used to London and my hometown (Baia Mare) where you can find a specialty coffee shop at every corner.
However, after a little morning walk around the town, I came across Coffee & Gallery Cu29 (which, of course, it’s right next to my hotel…). Great coffee and green tea, nice staff, WiFi, cosy, and a lovely view of the old paved streets and some trees. Overall, awesome experience. Almost finished with all the work I had to do.
Other than that, I’m very excited for everyone else to arrive!
