Déformation professionnelle
Déformation professionnelle (French: [defɔʁmasjɔ̃ pʁɔfɛsjɔnɛl], professional deformation or job conditioning) is a tendency to look at things from the point of view of one's own profession or special expertise, rather than from a broader or humane perspective. (Source: Wikipedia)
This is why now I am forever stuck with a pencil in hand every time I open a book. I got so used to making notes and explaining (to myself) why I fold a page corner, that now even if I’m reading for leisure I feel the need to do it. I mean, I don’t mind it. At least I’ll remember what I was thinking about when I’ll open the book after some time. But I find it funny that I have this ‘problem’ now.
P.S. So far, I love ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. I’m glad that I never got into watching the series, even though it was constantly playing on a TV Channel called AXN back home, but it was never the first episode and nothing made sense. However, I might give it a shot after I’m done with the book, now that I can appreciate the differences and enjoy the similarities.
