Community & Youth Work

It’s times like these I realise what an amazing network of people I have around me and how well I fit in this world of youth work and community development. I was happy to notice that there’s so much I know and love to do. I also like that I can still learn and grow, and in this field learning really is a lifelong process.

Today I met with András (DEIS UK’s Senior Business Advisor) who has been visiting London, representing PONT Group at the Thomson Reuters Foundation Trust Conference. We had a coffee at artFix on Woolwich and over a couple of hours, we discussed DEIS UK and plans and possibilities. We also talked about the present and future of urban youth - one of the topics that I really want to dive deeper into. There’s so much to do, so much opportunity, and I would lie if I said it wasn’t a bit scary, but it’s just as exciting.

I can’t wait to start working on the ideas that András and I had today. Consultations, concept proposals, reading materials - you can never ever be bored as a youth worker.
