Christmasaurus in the snow, the Green Goblin, and why it’s okay to be a kid sometimes

This pic was taken a couple of days ago when London was still covered by snow (now it’s raining and the snow is melting 🙁). I rescued ‘The Christmasaurus’ by Tom Fletcher from the streets, on a rainy day very similar to today. It’s a children’s book, but it was Christmassy and looked fun, so of course, I’m reading it now.

I love reading children’s books. They’re so simple and cute. This one has plenty of drawings and different fonts - larger, smaller, bold, italic. It also has that childish Christmas spirit with Santa Claus and elves and miracles. Miracles that aren’t about finding your soulmate in a small town on Christmas Eve… As much as I enjoy being an adult, I also like to check in with my inner child sometimes. It feels important.

Yesterday I had another fun inner-child-moment. When we arrived at artFix in the morning, there was an eco-art workshop going on hosted by Nan & Van. I was never a crafty person, but when I sat down at that table with a blank vinyl in front of me, I felt like I had to do something. I found a cutout that said ‘Green Goblin is on the rampage!’. There was a story to be told there. I had no idea where it was going, but then I found another cutout that worked, and another, and another. There’s a whole story about the Green Goblin now. You can read it here: https://www.bside.blog/post/green-goblin-is-on-the-rampage.
