Book conundrum
Here I am, almost one busy week before I fly to Bulgaria and I just finished ‘News of a Kidnapping’. So now I’m in a book conundrum… I need a book in progress now, but I also like to take a * fresh * book when I travel.
I always have this problem! I’ve been thinking about why this is, and I think there are two reasons for it - 1. If I were to take an already started book, I might just finish reading it before I even board the plane (I usually read the second half of a book faster) and 2. Leaving the book at home, I’d just lose its flow and mix up the characters and plot.
What should I do?
Luckily I have some decent problem-solving skills. Firstly, I’m still reading a non-fiction book on my phone - not my favourite, but it’ll be good on public transport this week. I might also start a physical non-fiction book and if I enjoy it, I might just take it with me anyway. Otherwise, I can just leave it at home because there’s no flow to be lost.
So, I can easily just pack a fiction book. I might go for ‘Less Than Zero’ by Bret Easton Ellis, published when he was 21. I also have a book on youth work that I might take with me. For some reason flying three hours instead of two means that I need many more books than usual.
