Back to the book

Last week was quite busy, and although I used public transport a lot, I couldn’t bring the book with me because a hardback trilogy is not really the one to be carried around, so I didn’t read much. To be honest, I didn’t read a single page until yesterday.

But now everything calmed down. I still have loads of meetings and whatnot, but at least in my head, it seems less busy. I don’t know why. So, yesterday I went back to ‘His Dark Materials’ and today I read in every little free moment. I see the fact that I could dive back into this world instantly as another sign that this book is simply amazing.

I have to admit that the last volume of the series is quite slow, but simply because it follows at least four different parallel storylines. And unlike, say, ‘A Wizard of Earthsea’ which is slow because the protagonist keeps travelling, this is not boring - while some characters travel in one storyline, the focus just shifts to another. I’m genuinely curious what will happen next.
