An excellent warmup for Spooky Season
This Spooky Season I will be reading plenty of short stories. I'm warming up with this collection from 1931 and then I'll start reading a collection from...2023. Old and new come together this season. I'll also want some Stephen King novel and, if I have time, I might start his "Danse Macabre" - the anatomy of horror (nonfiction).
So far, the M.R. James collection is fun to read. However, I must admit that the hundred years old language makes it a bit more complicated to get into the story. Especially because it's short form, I don't have enough time to get used to settings and characters before we move on to the next. This is often the downside of reading old books.
