Aliens.

Nuclear War. Nuclear Winter. People are killed. Basically, Cold War gone wrong. Aliens rescue the last surviving and start upgrading their bodies.

The protagonist and other human characters are mostly pissed at the aliens. But I really don’t understand why. The aliens cured cancer and other diseases, they can give you better memory. They also fixed Earth. In exchange, all they want is to mix their genes with us and create a new species of humans with better immunity, longer life expectancy, and without a predisposition for conflict. What’s bad about all this?

On another note, this is the kind of book that I especially enjoy reading from the e-reader. I can’t really tell you why, but I love to read SF and Fantasy in digital format. It just feels… right.
