About writing, my workshop, and writer’s block

I was putting together my promo post earlier, talking about using different methods to get going with your writing, when I realised that I already had a proper bout of writer’s block. It happened before I actually started experimenting with short stories on my blog. My block was believing that I have nothing valuable to write about and that I need *something* to start.

Why am I telling you all this? Because I always believed that 1. you have to write dozens of books before you can have writer’s block for real and 2. I didn’t really consider myself a writer. But that’s not true. Writer’s block can be the feeling that nothing you write will ever be good enough or the thought that whatever you do, no one will read your work or, or, or…

We need to talk about writer’s block. I needed three years of uni to let go of my writer’s block & impostor syndrome mix. Writing workshops (like mine, even) can be that one thing that makes you snap out of it. Give your inner writer a chance!
