About Stephen King

Today at short story writing we looked at uncanny - horror stories, one of my favourite styles. And as I am still reading Stephen King’s ‘Misery’ this came just in time.

Stephen King is, well, a king. He knows very well what he’s doing in his thriller/horror novels. This one is very static, but it plays with all your senses, you can almost feel physical pain, it makes you uncomfortable, and it hits right into the (repressed) fear of being excessively ‘mothered’.

Now that I understand the technicalities behind horror, I feel like it’s time to start using them in my stories. I can’t wait.
