A brick called Ulysses

My academic journey has come to the point where I am reading Joyce's 'Ulysses'. And I absolutely love Joyce. 'A Portrait...' is one of my dissertation books and its (unpublished) manuscript 'Stephen Hero' is probably one of my favourite pieces of writing.

But what about this... brick? I will sum up my opinion by saying that I don't think this book was meant to be read in a traditional way. You don't sit down and read this word for word. It's a work of art. You look at it. You analyse it. It's like a painting.

And I'm glad that I only got around to reading it now. I own this edition since my 19th birthday but I can tell you now that it would've been a frustrating experience to try and read it then. Suo tempore.
