20. ‘The Set of Poe’ by George Ade

Yesterday evening, we watched the 1999 ‘A Christmas Carol’ with Sir Patrick Stewart. I’m also reading the book at the moment, and I can’t believe I didn’t enjoy it years ago when I tried it for the first time. But then, looking back, it was a translation (my English wasn’t at the reading-Dickens level) and I was against anything Romanian too…

I’ve been watching this version of the film since I was a kid. I probably watched dozens of times. And yesterday I saw something I never noticed before. The Ghost of the Christmas Yet to Come takes Scrooge to Greenwich Uni (the scene was shot there)! Is that a coincidence? Doubt it!

When I chose this story, all I knew about was that it was somewhat similar to O. Henry's 'Gift of the Magi'. And it was. But it was also more realistic, I'd say. I've been in situations like this many times. I had a little laugh at the end. What an idiot! :))))
