2. ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ by The Brothers Grimm

It is a busy Thursday, as most Thursdays are for me. I stayed inside all day and worked on all sorts of things, listening to my 2021 Wrapped playlist on Spotify (one of the best years so far, musically speaking). I had a coffee in the morning, and I just made myself a cup of tea. So, as usual, I’m tired but happy.

For today’s story, I didn’t have an elf, but I have Charity the Penguin.

This is a very funny and short fairy-tale. I’m not quite sure what to make of its ending* but perhaps you can let me know what you think in the comments. You could argue that this is a story about miracles happening at any time, not just for Christmas. *[SPOILERS] The Elves leave after they receive the gifts from the Shoemaker, which makes it seem as though their good deed was only done to receive something in return.
